Uniting traditional and modern features: who says that a historic, listed building can’t compete with the efficiency of a new build home? The myth that an older property can’t be so energy efficient is being challenged with the St Margaret’s development in Exeter. This iconic building, which was a school from the 1920s until 2013, is being carefully and thoughtfully developed into beautiful houses and flats, by Grenadier Estates. Steeped in historical character, Wynlaton house, part of St Margaret’s Residences, still boasts many original features of its period heritage, whilst being respectfully developed into energy-efficient, unique apartments.
The interior visualisations are sympathetic to the history of this building, and Lianne, our in-house Interior Designer has ensured that, whilst period qualities are preserved, there is also a light, spacious and contemporary feel. The residences are bespoke, with individual character to each apartment, as well as modern and traditional features such as oak flooring, marble fireplaces, low energy led spotlights and stylish pendant lighting. Warm, neutral tones run throughout.
We are proud and excited to be in partnership with Grenadier Estates, as we help bring their vision for this unique build to life. The company are very mindful of the need to minimise their carbon footprint and of the importance of supporting local trade; therefore they endeavour to source local materials, and work with contractors that are local to the area, wherever possible.
