In a year most would like to forget, we wanted to pause and look back at the positives we have been able to celebrate at Archilime in 2020.

Archilime welcomed 3 new team members, created nearly 300 images, established a design team launching expanded services, took residence in a new floor of its river-view office and celebrated its academy becoming the first V-Ray certified training centre in the UK. Wow.

Highlights

Boston Quays
A notable project we are proud to have worked on is Hiro Homes’ Boston Quay’s in Plymouth, Devon. These waterfront houses with direct water access, provided us the canvas for final touches such as reflections, topography and photomontage (using drone photography). Seeing our CGIs integrated into a photo before its build is hugely rewarding for us, and a great marketing tool for the agents, Lang Town & Country.

Exeter University
An area we are hugely proud of is our animation – a beautiful wide-framed cinematic animation that gives a real sense of light, space and orientation. This animation we created for Exeter University’s new engineering department designed by Agora Architects, showcased these elements in this contemporary environment with glass, light and shadow in abundance.

Boundary House
Paragraph 79 projects are always exciting to work on, having qualified for permission due to exceptional architectural merit, innovative design and/or use of materials. These ‘one off’ projects are a privilege to visualise, even with a hint of envy at these dream homes!

Boundary House in Kingston, Devon, is an extraordinary building designed by Stopher Design comprising a complex steel beam roof with many ridge lines in a cantilevered design. It fits beautifully into its landscape, whilst having a light footprint upon it.

Marketing
This year has seen Archilime expand into design and marketing – we have loved being able to use our images to promote developments in-house. With the images at source, we have everything we need to create attractive brochures, floorplans, and to give a development a brand identity, having been familiar with it from the point of vision!

Relationships have also been key to us, so now we can carry this on through a more complete process, with our design eyes and marketing input, we are happy ‘limes!

We have been marketing these properties through location films and social media packages with innovative strategic designs and messaging, paid ad campaigns and printed material. It all comes together under our cosy paper mill roof, whilst the river rushes by.

Academy
We have been blown away by kudos the Academy has received this year from partnering with Chaos Group (The creators of V-Ray), creating them a promotional film exploring the new V-Ray 5 features and then following up with Q&A webinars as the industry experts!

Looking ahead

We are looking forward to watching the seasons change outside our window, and as along with it the exciting projects we have on the horizon. We foresee many more interactive maps and animations in our new climate, and look forward to our Academy growing with plenty of ideas in the pipeline and a masterclass coming in 2021.
